So, what was a kid to do if he lost some of the parts to his Mr. Potato Head? During the late 1950s and early 1960s, kids could use the insert below to order replacement parts. For 50 cents, kids got a small mailer box directly from Hasbro like the one to the right. Inside was a selection of nearly 50 new parts! The paper insert was included in most of the early play sets.
Below is a rare vintage Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head mailer set from General Mills. It was purchused by saving flour coupons. Comes complete with instructions for assembly of both Mr and Mrs. Potato Head, car, and baby carriage.
