Combined Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head sets became very rare after 1962. The 1980 Sears exclusive was barely a blip on the radar. This 1983 Hasbro Preschool era bendy arm version is also rarely seen. It has very common Mr. & Mrs. parts, but is a hard to find box.
Set # 225.71-Mr.& Mrs. Potato Head -Hasbro Preschool, ca. 1983The success of the 1979 version of the Super Mr. Potato Head carried over to a 1983 version of the same toy. This set is identical to the above set except for the box, and contained all the necessary parts to make Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head.
Another great event from the 1980’s was the return of Mr. Potato Head's convertible. But this time around, the restyled car was it's own toy and not just an accessory. The car had interchangeable parts that fit in the headlight, taillight, grill and license plate locations. And when not in use these parts could be stored in the trunk! A small tab inside the car fits into the bottom slot on Mr. Potato Head and makes him rock back and forth when you roll the car.
