Some of the games released in the 1990’s weren't new, but rather just Mr. Potato Head variations of old classics.
Besides owning Mr. Potato Head, Hasbro is the parent company of Milton Bradley, the makers of Lite Brite. So combining the two seemed quite natural. Lite Brite has been offering character related patterns for years, and who's a better known character than Mr. Potato Head? The original Mr. Potato Head refill pack was released in 1996 under the Milton Bradley name. The pictures in this pack are the same poses used in other licensed items such as the Nelsonic watches, the 1998 Valentine cards, and the Mr. Potato Head Fantastic Cel Painter sets.  In 1998, Hasbro changed the box of the Lite Brite Toy and made Mr. Potato Head the star on the box. The seperate pattern pack was released again in 1998 in a different color package.

The 1995 Potato Head Pals Mix & Match game was a new variation of the old “build a Potato Head” game from the 1960’s & 1970’s... just with updated parts. Children spin the spinner and try to be the first to assemble their Potato Head Kid. In this game however, the “Kids” are larger than before, and were not part of any other previous set.
