If arts & crafts are your thing, you can find several Mr. Potato Head items from the 1990’s that really challenge the imagination.
Topping the list are some play sets from Hasbro's subsidiary Play-Doh. The Mr. Potato Head set was released in 1997, and the Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head set is from 1998. Each set contains at least one set of plastic feet, and a two sided mold to make the face pieces. Press any color Play-Doh into a particular shape on the mold, trim the edges, and remove. Presto, an instant mouth, set of eyes, are whatever you choose! As seen below, the packaging for the Mr. & Mrs. set was changed slightly during the 2002 50th birthday celebration.

For the painter in all of us, there's the Kenner/Hasbro Mr. Potato Head Fantastic Cel Painter sets. These 1996 sets each contain four clear “animation cels” of Mr. Potato Head in action. The cels can be painted and placed on ready-to-frame action backgrounds.
If getting Play-Doh or paint under your fingernails doesn't seem appealing, how about the pop classic toy Colorforms. Colorforms resemble plastic stickers that can be applied to smooth surfaces in different play arrangements. The Sheriff Mr. Potato Head is the star of two different Colorform sets.![]()
