Beginning in 2005, Promotional Partners Worldwide released licensed custom Mr. Potato Head Sports Spuds as giveaway premiums for various sports events. They are usually given to the first few thousand kids at the game. Each comes sealed in a bag with various face pieces and a custom team uniform. Customers could receive the toy when placing a large order with the company, ca. 2006

In 2006, The Sports Spuds were still being given away at games, but they also went retail. The can be purchased in some Major League parks and at speciality stores.
