In July 2006 Hasbro introduced a new way to purchase Mr. Potato Heads. Well actually it isn't entirely new...just a variation on the Disney Make Your Own Spud. This new incarnation is called Create A Tater. So far I have only seen it at A.C. Moore craft stores, but that doesn't mean it's not going to be other places.
You pick a box with a Potato Head body in it, then you fill the remaining space in the box with whatever parts you choose. There are 25 parts to choose from...which are just individually packaged versions of the parts found in the "Parts 'N Pieces" sets. The Create A Tater sells for $9.99. The display says that the parts aren't sold seperately, but they were all labeled .79 cents each, so I assume you can.
There are two versions of the box. One is wide at the top and one is wide
at the bottom. They both hold the same amount, and feature Potato Head pictures
to color. Here's a tip. Fill the inside of the Potato Head body with as many
parts as you can, then replace the body into the box and fill up the remaining
space in the box. I was able to get 15 of the medium to large pieces inside.
Also, bend the inside tabs on the box flap so the box won't split open when
you stuff it full!
