Honors & Awards

-Mr. Potato Head was ranked number one in the Toy Shop magazine’s Top 40 Toys Of All Time.
 

-Dr. Stevanne Auerbach, Ph.D. also known as “Dr. Toy”, is a world authority on toy safety. In 1998 & 1999, he ranked Mr. Potato Head as one of the best and safest classic toys! Also, the Knock Knock Mr. Potato Head was rated # 37 on Dr. Toy’s 1998 safety list.
 

-Mr. Potato Head gets fit in the 1990s and is awarded a Presidential Sports Award from the President’s Council on Physical Fitness & Sports.


-On May 21st 2000, Chicago Cubs fans were treated to a special Mr. Potato Head day at Wrigley Field. In addition to Mr. Potato Head throwing out the first pitch, 10,000 lucky fans went home with a limited edition Cubs/Wrigely Field Mr. Potato Head toy!
 

-Mr. Potato Head, along with the Slinky, the jump rope, jacks and the bicycle, were inducted into the Toy Hall of Fame on March 24th 2000. Over the years, the Salem, Oregon museum has honored toys such as the hula hoop, Frisbee, marbles, Play-Doh, Barbie, Lincoln Logs, Lego and Monopoly.
 
 
 


-In early 2000, Mr. Potato Head was named the official Ambassador for the Rhode Island State Tourism Board. Promoting the state as a family destination, top artists created unique 6 foot statues of the famous potato. Each of the approximately 40 potatos reflected some aspect of Rhode Island’s character. These artistic statues were placed all over the state to welcome tourists throughout the season.

 

-On his 50th birthday, Mr. Potato Head was awarded his own official AARP card!


What an honor! On February 12th, 2002, Mr. Potato Head rang the opening bell at the New York Stock Exchange!
