Although Burger King made the biggest splash with their Mr. Potato Head toys, McDonald’s hasn’t forgotten the appeal of the spud. In 1990, the restuarant used Mr. Potato Head as a spokesman for their Fries Surprise contest. There were no toys involved, just banners and advertising items.

McDonald’s snagged the rights to Toy Story 2 in 1999, and released a huge assortment of character toys. Included in the set was a Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head walking wind up toy, and a larger Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head candy dispenser.
