Toy Story 2 The huge success of Toy Story guaranteed a big budget sequel...and Disney Pixar delivered in 1999. This time, Mrs. Potato Head was one of several new characters to join Mr. Potato Head and the gang for the adventure. Don Rickels returned as the cynical and wise cracking Mr. Potato Head. Estelle Harris, best known for her role as George’s mom on Seinfeld, supplied the voice of Mrs. Potato Head.

The addition of new characters made possible a toy blitz like never before. Many more Potato Head items were released than with the first movie. Initially, some of the Mrs. Potato Head toys were much harder to find than the male counterparts. The packaging too became more modern. Some had red and blue patterns, and some were a streamline clear!
While Mr. Potato Head remained the same from the first movie, Mrs. Potato Head made her debut with a new, cleaner 90’s look. The Toy Story 2 Mrs. Potato Head came with the hat and eyes from the Crazy Style Mrs. Potato Head set. She was given all new ears with painted on earrings, and a fabulous new set of red pumps!

All of the talk about the new Toy Story movie obviously carried over into the toys. This movie spawned more talking potatoes than ever before! The Talking Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head were almost lifesize plastic toys that say movie phrases when you push their hats. Mr. Potato Head says things like “Put a cork in it”, and “ You’re not turning me into a mashed potato!” Mrs. Potato head claims “That Woody is such a hoot", and "I married such a spud."
Smaller versions of the talking Spuds were available in the Toy Story 2 Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head Talking Pocket Pals. They were the perfect size to use as a keychain, or kids could put them on their backpacks with the built in clips.![]()
